Attendance

Regular attendance at school means your child can make the most of their education and have the best start in life.

The more your child attends the more they will fulfil their potential.

Miss Simpson co-ordinates the First Day Response system for following up absences. Where contact cannot be made by telephone, home visits will be carried out by two members of staff. Please ensure you contact school as soon as possible to report any absences and ensure your child returns to school as soon as possible.

We expect all children to have good or better attendance (96% or higher) and arrive on time at the start of the day.

We are unable to authorise any term-time holidays. These will be recorded as an unauthorised absence on your child’s attendance record and Penalty Notices will be issued.

Poor or irregular attendance and/or persistent lateness will result in a referral to the Wakefield EWO and a Penalty Notice will be issued.

For further information please refer to the attendance policy below.

Attendance Reward Incentives

At Simpson’s Lane Academy, we offer an array of incentives to try and encourage children to attend school everyday. These include:

  • Half-termly certificates are awarded for any pupil that has had 100% attendance during that period.
  • Termly reward for any pupil that has had 100% attendance during the entire term.
  • Every Friday, during our celebration’s assembly, each class has the opportunity to earn money for their branch on the money tree. At the end of the year, they are then able to decide as a class how they are going to spend the money they have saved up.
