Fundraising

This year, we have put a lot of focus on fundraising for charities as well as raise money to help develop the academy further. Our Academy Councillors, Eco Councillors and School Reps are heavily involved in the fundraising that occurs across the academy. So far this year, it has involved:

  • Organising and hosting the Macmillan Coffee Morning
  • Organising and helping to facilitate the Halloween Disco
  • Contacting Woodlands Trust and planting trees around the Academy
  • Collecting milk bottle tops to raise funds for Cancer Research
  • Advertising and selling Poppies for Remembrance Day to raise money for the Royal British Legion
  • Organising the Christmas Fayre
  • Creating environmentally friendly areas around the academy for Bees
  • Organising an event for Children In Need

Clothing Bank Collection

Simpson’s Lane Academy is an official Drop Off Point for The Clothing Bank

The Clothing Bank is a local charity, set up and run by 2 ladies, who’s dream is to end clothing poverty.

They support families who are fleeing domestic violence and have left their homes with nothing.

Bereaved families with children whose remaining parent can’t afford clothes for them.

A lot of the families they help are working people who, with the cost of living going up and fuel bills increasing are having to choose between feeding their children and clothing their children.

We work so hard as a school to improve children’s education, supporting this kind of charity goes hand in hand if it helps to improve other areas of a child’s life.

One gentleman who they supported, was given suit, he then used the suit for a job interview, got the job and when he was back on his feet, he then donated money back to The Clothing Bank.

They have recently supported several teenagers who are starting college and didn’t have nice clothes to be able to wear to college, now that they weren’t wearing school uniform.

We want to help our community make a difference.

We are also a drop off point for Knottingley foodbank.
