From 2013, the government has provided additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how they do this. The documents below provide an overview and evaluation of how we decided to use this funding for the academic year 2016-2017 and evaluations of spending in 2014-2015 and 2015-16.
