Music
Our Music Intent
Specialist teachers are employed to ensure all children have access to the best possible Music teaching and to support the professional devlopement of teachers and support staff.
In Key Stage 2, all children in Years 3, 4 and 5 have the opportunity to learn to play a different instrument, as well as vocal coaching in Year 6. Each class will also have the opportunity to perform to parents/carers and other classes in school at the twice yearly 'Musical Showcase'.
Year 3: Samba
Year 4: Brass
Year 5: Ukulele
Year 6: Vocal
In Key Stage 1, singing, rhythm and rhyme skills are built upon through regular use of tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments. Pupils are also introduced to pitch and early notation skills.
We exploit music wherever we can across other areas of the curriculum to support learning. Children will regularly sing songs in other areas such as Maths and MFL.
