Academy Advisory Body

As part of Delta we have an Academy Advisory Board (AAB) as our governing body. Members have been elected from individuals with varying backgrounds, who volunteer their time and commitment. The AAB members include a retired further education lecturer, business professionals, parents and staff. The Board members all bring their life skills, experience and expertise to support and enhance life within the Academy. The aim is to support the Academy to achieve outstanding status, providing pupils with the necessary skills and learning to achieve the best they possibly can in life.

Pam Smith - AAB Chair & Standards Representative

I am a semi - retired business woman with a background in Education.  A qualified teacher, experienced at teaching in secondary school and also FE, with a degree in Education Management.  A member of the Institute of Biology, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Institute of Directors.  I am also a qualified business coach and run my own Coaching business.  I have been a governor for 5 years and I became a governor to use my skills to support the development of Simpson's Lane Academy and the success of the students.   I have worked with both staff and students in supporting the constantly improving standards of the Academy.

Elaine Lenc - AAB Vice Chair & Finance Representative

I am an retired Bank Executive and Director. I held senior posts in the Banking Industry for forty years, leading large strategic and transformational change initiatives across two UK banks. I am a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Bankers. I am committed to supporting improvements in the Academy and building great relationships with parents and pupils.

Roger Dawson - Child Protection and Safeguarding and SEND, LAC and Disadvantaged Representative

I am a fully qualified Electrical Engineer who has worked for 50 years in the electricity supply and associated industries. During this time I have held several senior leadership positions including, in more recent times, directorships in two independent companies. I am a Knottingley born person, married with two sons - both of whom attended Knottingley High School. In my 30 years’ experience of being a Governor I have seen many changes, most notably, the move to Academy status. My view is that Simpson's Lane Academy belongs to the community and students of Knottingley.  The staff members at Simpson's Lane are committed to provide the best possible education for our students. Our aim is to ensure sustained and consistent improvement to build on the excellent results of recent years.

Mick Whittle - Delta Facilities Officer and Health and Safety Representative

I have been a teacher for over 35 years with experience of leading both a large technology faculty as well as being a member of Leadership of an outstanding academy.  I also have experience of successfully developing academy buildings and facilities so that pupils can learn in a vibrant and safe learning environment. I hope my experience will support the academy during the process of a major expansion programme.

Christine Mayers - Head of Academy

Gillian Wiles - Regional Director of Education

Anne Elliott -  Executive Principal - Simpson's Lane Academy

Trudi Bartle - Executive Principal - England Lane Academy

David Irving - Head of Academy - England Lane Academy

Andy Cable - Community Representative

Jennifer Jones - Behaviour and Attendance Representative

I  moved to Knottingley from America and have lived in this community for five years.  As a parent I have always felt it is important to be involved in my children's education and to encourage them to be involved in their school and our community. I worked in business management for almost 30 years.  I am able to apply that skill set while being on the Academy Advisory Board.  I enjoy the work, especially as I see the schools continue to improve and the students become successful members of our community.  It is a privilege to be involved and I am grateful to have the opportunity to help our students reach their full potential.
